Workshop is dedicated to the 25th
anniversary of asteroid investigations at Institute of Astronomy
of Kharkiv National University. Its principal object is to discuss
the achievements and current problems in photometric and polarimetric
studies of asteroids with a special impact on the progress in collaboration
and consolidation of efforts.

- Photometric and follow-up observations of near-Earth
asteroids.
- Photometric discovery and study of binary systems.
- Physical properties of MBAs and NEAs from polarimetric
and photometric data.
- Numerical modeling of the shape, rotation and
optical properties of asteroids.
- Asteroid Database.
- Cooperative observational programs.

Scientific Programme
The Workshop is dedicated to the 25th anniversary
of asteroid investigations at the Research Institute of Astronomy
of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Its principal object
is to discuss the achievements and current problems in photometric
and polarimetric studies of asteroids with a special emphasis on
the progress in collaboration and consolidation of efforts.
Topics to be discussed
at the Workshop include:
- Ground-based photometry and polarimetry of asteroids:
techniques and new results.
- Photometric and follow-up observations of near-Earth
asteroids.
- Photometric discovery and study of binary systems.
- Physical properties of MBAs and NEAs from polarimetric
and photometric data.
- Numerical modeling of the shape, rotation and
optical properties of asteroids.
- Asteroid Data-base.
- Cooperative observational programmes.
Contributed papers:
Oral presentations will be 20 minutes and 40 minutes long (including
questions) for contributed and invited papers, respectively. Overhead
and video projectors will be available.
Abstracts:
The deadline for abstract submission is April
30, 2003. The abstracts should be submitted electronically
in Microsoft Word (any version) to workshop@astron.kharkov.ua.

Accommodations:
Hotel
reservations will be made upon request which should be sent before
May 20, 2003. OC
recommends two hotels within a walking distance: “Kharkov” (www.hotel.kharkov.com)
and “Kievskij” (www.hotelk.kharkov.ua,
Fax: 38-057-2143100). One night accommodation is in the range from
$10 to $70 (first class). Cheaper accommodation is available in
other hotels. A limited number of the participants can be accommodated
in the University's hotel.
Travel:
You can reach Kharkiv directly by Austrian Airlines or via Kiev.
Kiev is reachable by all major air carriers. There is a convenient
overnight train connection Kiev - Kharkiv. Departure time is 21:30
(local time). The train arrives in Kharkiv at 6:30 a.m. Besides,
there are two express trains from Kiev to Kharkiv leaving at 6:30
a.m. and 17:30, the travel time is 5.8 hrs and the price is about
$10.
There is also an express bus from the international Borispol airport
near Kiev to Kharkiv leaving at 07:50, 11:30, 12:30, 15:45, 17:30
and 22:50 (local time). The price is about $12 and the travel time
is 6.5 hrs.
Registration:
The registration fee is $100.
Some very limited financial support can be
available.
Social Events:
A welcoming reception, a half-day tour
of the city, a closing dinner and other events.

TITLE OF ABSTRACT
Name of the first Author
(Institution, Country), Name of the other Author(s) (Institution,
Country)
The text of an abstract should be written in English as a Word-file
using the Times New Roman, 12 pt font, single-spaced and not longer
than two pages.
- Page margins: top -2.5 cm, bottom - 2.5 cm, left side - 3 cm,
right side - 2 cm.
- Title of the abstract should be written in bold and capital letters.
- Leave one blank line after the title block.
- The names of authors should be followed by their affiliations
(Institute and Country) with brackets.
- Leave one blank line after the author block.
References in the text should be given with the name of author(s)
and the year of publication [(Singleauthor, 2000); (Firstauthor,
Secondauthor, 2001); (Severalauthors et al. 2002)]. The list of
references is given below as an example. Each reference includes
name(s) of author(s) in alphabetical order, publication year, name
of the journal in italics, volume and pages. If there are one or
two authors only, both are mentioned, if there are more than two
authors, the first one is mentioned, followed by "et al."
