IX. Research summary
-
Albedos for 57 asteroids were determined using diameters obtained from stellar occultations. They can be used for calibrating albedos obtained by indirect methods (Shevchenko, Tedesco, 2006).
-
Photometrical observations were carried out and the magnitude-phase relations have been obtained for different type asteroids (35 objects) in range of opposition effect down to the extremely small phase angles < 1 deg (Shevchenko et al., 1996, 1997, 2002, 2008, 2012; Belskaya et al. 2003, 2010; Rosenbush et al., 2005, 2009, and others).
-
The nonlinear dependence of amplitude of opposition effect on albedo has first been discovered for asteroids, which is explained through the two mechanisms of the forming of the opposition effect: the coherent backscatter and the shadow hiding (Belskaya, Shevchenko, 2000).
-
Some dark asteroids without opposition brightening in magnitude-phase relations were discovered (Shevchenko et al., 1996, 2008, 2012.)
-
The photometric model of asteroid have been developed, which was used for investigation of the brightness distribution law over the asteroid disk (Akimov, Lupishko, Shevchenko, 1992), for investigation of an influence of the brightness distribution low on asteroid photocentre displacement (Lupishko, Shevchenko, Tungalag, 2002), and for determination of the spin vectors of asteroids (Shevchenko et al., 2003, 2009; and others).
-
The phase function for approximation of asteroid magnitude-phase dependences have been proposed and a strong linear correlation (the coefficient of correlation is equal to 0.93) between the slopes of magnitude-phase dependences with the logarithm of albedo was detected that can be used for determination of asteroid albedo (Shevchenko 1997; Belskaya, Shevchenko, 2000).
-
The variable star, belonged to the Delta Scuti variable subtype DY Her with period 3.81 hours, was discovered (Shevchenko 2004).
-
Detected satellites for five asteroids (Pravec et al., 2000; Krugly et al., 2007; and others).
