The Solar System Bodies: from Optics to Geology

The conference will be held in Kharkiv V.N. Karazin National University situated in the center of Kharkiv, the second largest city of Ukraine.


If you are going to attend the conference, please fill the registration form on-line at before March 31, 2008. For those who already filled the pre-registration form there is no need to send new form.

The hotel Kharkov is the closest hotel to the place of the conference (5 minutes by walk). You can find information about the prices at the hotel websites. Pay attention that the prices can be given in Ukrainian currency Hryvnya (UAH). The exchange rate is 1 USD ~ 5.0 UAH, 1 Euro ~7.4 UAH. Cheap accommodation for students (Euro 4-5 per night) is also available. The LOC can provide booking in the above-mentioned hotels by your request. Please, send a request with an indication of exact dates of your arrival and departure, hotel�s name and room type (single/double) by e-mail before April 25, 2008.

How to get to Kharkiv

There are a limited number of airlines that connect Kharkiv to other cities, mainly to Kiev, Moscow and Vienna. The option is either to fly directly to Kharkiv via Vienna by Austrian Airlines or to Kiev Borispol Airport ( which has a lot of connections to many cities. To get to Kharkiv from Kiev you can take a bus directly from Borispol Airport ( or a train from the Kiev Railway Station (in 40 minutes by bus from Borispol Airport). You can choose either an express train (departure 17:30, arrival 23:20) or a night train (departure 22:25, arrival 6:25). How to get to University

You may get to these places: - from Railway Station by metro to the station“Universitet”; - from Airport by bus no. 119 to the stop “Metro Universitet” - from the hotel “Gloria” by metro to the station “Gosprom” The metro stations “Universitet” and “Gosprom” belong to different lines but have common connection and are very close to each other and to the University building and to the hotel “Kharkov”. Visa to Ukraine

For the citizens of the neighboring states (CIS), EU, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Canada, USA, Japan, Andorra, Vatican, Iceland, Monaco,Norway, San Marino, Turkey whose visit will not last more then 90 days no visa is required, while everyone else still needs a visa from a Ukrainian embassy or consulate abroad before traveling. You can find address of Ukrainian embassy abroad at The LOC will provide an invitation letter upon your request.

Registration fee

The registration fee is Euro 200 (200 UAH for participants from former Soviet Union countries). It includes the abstract book, coffee breaks and attendance to all official events organized by the LOC. The registration fee should be paid upon arrival at the registration desk.

Financial support

Very limited financial support can be provided.


Oral presentations

An LCD projector and a PC laptop will be available for oral presentations. Speakers should bring their presentation on a USB memory drive to download on the laptop PC provided at the meeting.

Poster presentations

The maximal size of posters should not exceed 100 cm wide and 120 cm high. Posters will remain on display near the conference hall throughout the conference. A poster session is scheduled after the lunch break on Thursday, May 29. Author will have 5 minutes each to present their posters.
